Brown trout are on the bite. High water through the next few days then its a brown trout party. into the first two weeks of may…if you want to fish for trout now is a great time to catch the biggest trout before the hex hatch!

 If you are thinking about trout or smallmouth bass fly fishing this spring you need to book now. My days are going quickly, please get your fishing trip in order for the summer of 2013.

All I can say about the Pere Marquette River is I am seriously worried about how long we will have salmon in this river…So many killing everything including hens this year. More in fact then I have ever seen.

Have we all forgotten this is a Michigan National Scenic River? It looks more like a slaughter house for the states.

Something must be done. I was shocked when  people said to me…sure aren’t many fish this year…while they have 4 hens on there stringer. Please Think about 10yrs from this year. and how many can you really eat? These fish have to last. 

Here’s a beauty we released, along with every fish I landed this season. You guides out there make a statement and release the fish you catch.

if your clients want to eat salmon please send them to a local charter boat company for the freezer fish…stop killing the spawners.

The state is not going to plant any more salmon.  Male salmon or Female if you kill the spawners your washing out yours, and everyone else’s future.

Think about the work you look forward to in the spring and fall. Protect your tributaries, its habitat and species.
